One Minute Radio Blog™: Planned Parenting & Regrets

Opinion Columns

By Alicia M. Phidd, Esq.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, April 5, 2012- Parenting and child rearing is such a delicate topic. We discussed this on the air today and the response was overwhelming. I believe many of us, both men and women would plan the birth of their children if it was totally in their control. Planned or not most persons I believe are quite happy once the child has arrived. Most mothers will often say they would never give up being a mother for anything in the world. We do know that some regret the decision and treats the child poorly or it may be one of the reasons for unofficial or official adoptions. Some will have momentary regrets manifested in postpartum depression.

I firmly believe that a strong support system is needed in the raising of children. So I end by saying if your family is not around, join mommy meetup groups online. There is paternal support online as well. Just remember there is no need to do it all by yourself because it takes a village to raise a child.
